NewsBin
Pro
1.
Connect to the Internet and Launch NewsBin Pro. The
first screen should look like this. Click next.

2. In the server name field enter
newshost.allthenewsgroups.com. Put a check in
the box which reads "Authentication Required" and type
your username and password into the username and password fields.

3. NewsBin Pro comes with a list
of popular Newsgroups pre-installed. However, these groups may
be outdated so we are going to get an updated list.
For now, just click next to
bypass this step.

4. Click Finish.
5. When the "Message of the Day"
screen opens, just click ok to close it.

6. From the main menu at the top
of the program, select Preferences and then Group
Options...
7. This is where we will get the
most recent group list. By checking any of the boxes under Group
Name Filters, you can filter certain groups from appearing
in the main group list. For example, checking Binaries
will exclude all groups containing binary file attachments
and leave you with only text-based groups to chose from.
For
this example, we are not going to filter out any groups - just
click the Download Groups button.
8. It may take a few minutes
to download the group list, depending on your connection speed.
Eventually a Status window will appear notifying you that the
Groups Download is complete. Click ok.
9. Scroll through the groups
and check off the groups that interest you. You can sort
the group list alphabetically or by the number of posts per
group. Then click ok.
10. Next we will download
the headers for groups we have selected. Highlight the
groups you wish to retrieve headers for. Then, from the
main menu at the
top of the program, select Groups and Download
All Headers.
11. Select a message, right
click, and select Read Post Body. Alternatively,
you can just click Ctrl+R after selecting
a message to read the message.
12. Upon exiting the
program for the first time it will ask you to save
your configuration on your hard drive. Feel free to
name the file whatever you'd like and click save.
Though you shouldn't
need to refer to this file directly in the future,
it is best to save the file somewhere
where it won't be accidentally deleted, otherwise
you will be prompted to save a new configuration
file the next time you exit the program.
13. Still have questions? NewsBin
Pro comes with a great Help section including a Beginners
Guide. (See Below.) Additionally, you can contact
us for configuration
assistance.
