Free Agent

1. Connect to the Internet and launch Free Agent.

2. The first time that you run Free Agent, a simple "setup wizard" guides you through the process of configuring your news reader. Below are instructions for setting it up this way.


Enter the following information as shown below:

News (NNTP) Server: newshost.allthenewsgroups.com

Mail (SMTP) Server: mail.voicenet.com (NOTE: if you connect to the internet through a different internet provider other than Voicenet, you will need to obtain the SMTP server name from your Internet Service Provider.)

Email Address: (your email address)

Full Name: (your real name)

3. If Free Agent Setup prompts you with the following message, choose "No."

4. Using the menu at the top of the screen, click "Options" then select "User and System Profile."

5. Click your mouse on the white circle next to "Login with a username and password."

In the Username field, enter your eight-character username (for example: nn123456).
In the Password field, enter your password. Click OK.

6. If you are connected to the Internet at this time, using the menu at the top of the screen, select "Online" and then "Get New Groups."

7. Free Agent will now begin to download the list of newsgroups.

8. That's it! You have successfully configured Free Agent!
