The first time you open your newsreader, your firewall program may prompt you asking if it is ok for your newsreader to access the internet. If this is the case, simply click Yes.

If your firewall program does not prompt you to allow your newsreader to access the internet, you may wish to contact the program vendor of the firewall program for instructions on how to allow it to open NNTP port 119

Alternatively, on a Windows-based computer, you can disable your firewall program by right-clicking on the icon next to your clock on your task bar and selecting "disable" or "shutdown."

Your firewall program may then ask you if you are sure you want to quit. Just click Yes.
